Happy Monday!
I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend despite all the rain! I did! Saturday, I stopped by the Tim Horton’s Camp Day fun fair with my little guy. He had fun playing the games they had set up. Sadly, because of the weather we didn’t make it to the carnival – maybe next time.
Sunday was the Great Pretenders pretend play info session hosted by yours truly. I have to admit I was pretty disappointed (and a little bit embarrassed) when only 3 of the 8 people who showed up but Dee from Great Pretenders did a really nice presentation about how pretend play is important to children’s development and how we, as parents, can encourage it and help them use their imaginations to grow and learn. Dee was INCREDIBLY generous and also gave out beautiful costumes, accessories and goodies to everyone who did come! Great Pretenders has always been very kind to me and my readers! Thank you so much, Great Pretenders!
If you would be interesting in attending an info session like this in the future, please leave a comment below and if there’s enough interest I will organize another (with better advertising this time!).

CALLING ALL JUNIOR SHUTTERBUGS – THE SUMMER KIDTOGRAPHER SEARCH IS BACK!
Posterjack’s Summer Kidtographer search is back for a third year in a row! This year we’re looking for four junior shutterbugs between the ages of 8 to 12 years old to show our fans summer through the lens of a kid.
To get each Summer Kidtographer started on their journey, we’ll hook each kid up with a Canon PowerShot SX520 HS along with a memory card to save all their photos.
As a new twist, this year one child photographer will be chosen by Posterjack fans! From June 15th to June 19th, Posterjack fans will be invited to vote for their favourite junior photographer (based on their entry photo) on Facebook. When fans vote, they’ll be entered in a draw to win a Canon PowerShot SX520 HS of their very own!
Kids can enter the search to become one of the four official Posterjack Summer Kidtographers by submitting the following information via email to kidtographer@posterjack.ca by June 14th, 2015:
- Name
- Proof of age
- City
- A recent photo taken by the aspiring kidtographer
- A brief explanation (250 words or less) on why they should be Posterjack’s Summer Kidtographer (can be written with the help of an adult)
From July 1st to August 24th, Kidtographers will be asked to snap daily photos, which will be submitted to Posterjack every Sunday by 12:00 pm EST. These photos will be featured on the Posterjack blog and social media communities.
On September 1st, each Kidtographer will be awarded a $150 Posterjack gift certificate to turn their favourite summer photos into lasting art.
