Best Family Calendar EVER

In the spirit of New Year’s resolutions, many people, including myself have revved up their declutter/reorganize/get it together mojos. So, I wanted to share one of my absolute favourite things to help keep my family’s schedule organized!

The Mom’s Family Calendar (affiliate link) is seriously the best calendar ever for families. I have been using it for about 4 years now and I honestly can’t imagine life without it. My favourite thing about it is that each family member gets their own column (there are 5 spots: one for Mom, Dad and up to 3 kiddos) with a nice big square for each day of the month! It totally eliminates having to colour code or try and jam every person’s appointments in one tiny little square like most other calendars. It even comes with cute stickers which the kids love and a magnetic phone list. It’s awesome.

I know a lot of people are all about the digital calendars but for me it’s just not the same as the real deal hanging on the wall, covered in scribbles. If you haven’t got a good calendar for this year yet, you should check it out!

Winter Activities for Toddlers

Hello… it’s 12:30am and I have missed the  daily deadline but here I am with my post for the day (technically yesterday but who’s counting?)! I saw this post about 11 activities to entertain your toddler during winter and since the forecast for the next week is super duper COLD, I thought I’d share it. I especially love #3 (ice boats) and #10 (colour scavenger hunts)!

Happy New Year!

Hello friends! Happy 2nd day of 2015!

I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season! If it was anything like mine, it was super busy – queue the radio silence in blogville – but absolutely wonderful. What’s not to love about Christmas carols, beautiful lights, delicious food (Mmmm Mmm pumpkin pie!) and spending time with friends and family? Christmas was awesome.2014 was awesome. There was a lot to see and do with the kiddos around the city and we are already looking forward to some of next year’s events (Bluewater Health’s Winter Wonderland at DeGroots, for one! My kids could ride that train all day)! However, all good things must come to and end and each year much start anew. Resolution time. I don’t know about you guys but  I have a laundry list of resolutions this year which I have decided to share on here in an effort to make myself more accountable. So here are the main ones, in no particular order:

I resolve to:

1) Post at least one thing on this site EVERY SINGLE DAY starting January 2nd (haha).

2) Become the master of my digital world. We have thousands of family pictures and videos, etc. scattered on a variety of devices throughout the house. I have never even seen most of them! The pictures get taken, uploaded, forgotten. I am going to take control this year. I am going to gather them all to one device, go through them all, print. Be the boss. If anyone has any tips of doing this, I would LOVE them.

3) Go through all of my kitchen cupboards, closets, basement storage areas and REORGANIZE. Purge. Be free.

4) Continue on my journey to live a healthy and active lifestyle so that I be a good role model for my kids. I want to lead by example. I would like to lose some more weight (down 60lbs so far!) but am more focused on how I feel than the numbers on the scale.

5) Spend more time with friends and family.

6) To find a better balance/disconnect from social media. I am going to call instead of text. You can first click here to visit BuyLikes.com for free to grow oyur social accounts.  Have real conversations, see people out in the real world and make eye contact with them (GASP!), deliver actual birthday cards instead of just lame Facebook well wishes, that sort of thing.

I will keep you posted on my progress.

That’s all for now… time to conquer Folding Mount Laundry while the wee ones sleep. Goodnight!

New Prenatal Yoga Session Starting Soon!

Mamas-to-be, there is a brand new Prenatal yoga session beginning next Wednesday, January 7th at Inner Dawn Yoga from 5:30pm to 6:15pm each week.

5 classes for $55 plus tax or $14.00 drop in.

Classes are taught by the studio owner and CYT, E-RYT 200, Lisa Craig (a fellow mama-to-be! CONGRATS, LISA!).

I have mentioned it here many times but for those of you who don’t already know, I practiced prenatal yoga faithfully with Lisa throughout my second pregnancy and can personally attest to the fact that she is an amazing teacher as well as an absolutely beautiful and kind human being.  She doesn’t know it, but I 100% credit my practice with her with giving me the tools I needed to have a natural birth with my daughter. It was a very empowering experience to connect my mind and body and find strength within myself in a way I never really had before. Thank you, Lisa! (It the polar opposite of my first birth experience and for that, I am eternally grateful! haha)
